Introduction

The Migration Research and Training Centre (MRTC), which has been designated as the First Support Group by the Ministry of Justice, is managing and organizing the initial orientation course for foreign students, foreign entertainers, and residents living in areas densely populated with foreigners.
The Initial Orientation Course for Immigrants supports foreigners who come to Korea for the first time acquire information such as basic law and information about life in Korea so that they can quickly adapt to Korean society.

Program

1Foreign Students

  • Eligible Participant
    D-2 visa holders, D-4-1 visa holders, international students with other types of visa
  • Program Content
    Three-hour lecture on law and order in Korea, helpful information for adapting to a Korean society, and essential information for foreign students.
  • Education Center
    39 initial orientation support centers for international students including university students*

  • Education Program Schedule
    Before and after the start of the semester
  • How to Apply
    To ask “international student service center” where a student registered.

2Residents living in areas densely populated with foreigners

  • Eligible Participant
    Long-term foreign residents living in areas densely populated with foreigners*
    * Primary local governments with 7,000 or more foreign residents
  • Program Content
    Law and order in Korea and helpful information for adapting to a Korean society
  • Education Center
    Basic autonomous entities* and foreigner support centers that wish to serve as an education center**
    * Foreign resident centers in Ansan-si, Seongnam-si, Gimpo-si, and Hwaseong-si

3Foreign Entertainers

  • Eligible Participant
    Foreign Entertainers entering Korea with Hotel · Entertainment (E-6-2) visa
    * Mandatory participation in initial adjustment program needed prior to alien registration
  • Program Content
    Three-hour lecture on Laws and Orders of Korea, helpful information for adapting to a Korean society, and human rights protection
  • Education Center
    16 immigration offices in Korea (Seoul, Southern Seoul, Busan, Incheon, Suwon, Jeju, Daegu, Daejeon, Yeosu, Yangju, Ulsan, Gwangju, Changwon, Chuncheon, Cheongju, Jeonju)
  • How to Apply
